Evolution: Water and Fire

mothership
sailing the calm sea
flat and harbouring

other mother

The river is frozen
fires are lit
the cracks appear

other women

corals ablaze
encasing the white
streets are on fire

other mother

flying fish
disappearing into
fertile landscapes

other women

cracking open
revealing pattern
and structure

other mother

my mother
other women
other me

Asking for forgiveness

I asked for forgiveness
my ten week old
fourth potential child
not to be

For not wanting it
for rejecting it
for being in such pain
not to be

If you had come into
our lives
I know I would have
loved you and supported you

For love prevails - always

Nonetheless

I ask you to forgive me
for those difficult feelings
at the beginning of your creation

I do not know
why you were
not to be
not to grow fully

I do not know
why
what
when

But I do know that
I get answers
when I ask
the Universe responds

What is your name
I asked
and the answer came
clear and loud

Bela

Time
Within
at the sea's shore

Your name couldn't be more apt
more meaningful
more true

I embrace you

Bela

and I will forever
be full with your gift

Thank you.

Still Life

It is in discovering
still life
that I am

finding that place
where the tears
dissolve

the necessity
for grieving
for letting the heart hurt

the spaces in between
the shapes
that tell a story

colours fresh and strong
transformation from one to the other
mother I want to love you

just love you
no more sadness
of lost opportunities

it is in discovering
still life
that I want to live

in love
for love
with love

Pacing myself

There is much
that is moving
that is happening

A year gone
my mother's passing
the need of separation

the boy holding onto
mama
the breast

one daughter
starting to turn
womanhood a step closer

where am I
in all of this
the need for space

the need for

spacing
pacing
gentleness

contrapunto
to so much
growth

Practicing Forgivenness

I realize
I must practice
forgiveness

let things rest
let them be
let go

find lightness
through my heavy heart
find that open space

reclaim my essence
the depth of my existence
be who I am

Being a Mother to Twins

you initiated me into motherhood
my little Plato and Jupiter
orbiting around each other

Picture chosen by the girls

never far away
fighting for independence
needing each other's embrace

the dainty threads of connection
your different ways of going forward
different yet the same

Yin and Yang
Night and Day
Sky and Earth

you have made my life special
beyond words
my girls

I feel very honoured
to be your Mama
to be witness to your journeys

I will forever
treasure
our being together

you have two big
mother polar bears
protecting you

One for each

Number 9
you have grown
and I can sense

Integration
Unity
Truth

You are
growing into
your own

Thank you
Universe
for this double gift

The Bad Mother Archetype

With your beady eyes
your limp hands
your punishing judgement

Leave me alone
go away
don't touch me

I want my mummy
your warm hands
and your alive eyes

hold me
and cuddle me
and tickle me

you stay away from my son
you go and sort out your house
you go and clear out your rubbish

The Bad Mother Archetype has no place here

Instead I wonder
can we approach the synthesis of Good and Bad
become ethical in our way of being

Let each other be
not judge
Love
